Pedal Power
For the last few weeks I've been getting myself outta bed and onto my bicycle as a means of cardio exercise. I'm not going too far, just around my block (which includes two pretty steep hills) for 20 minutes.
But it's kinda fun. I must admit I'm probably quite a sight in my black or green swimming trunks, grey helmet, and sweatshirt or long-sleved T. When the weather was a bit colder, I'd put a pair of thermal underwear on under my shorts. With some tunes in my MP3 Player, I'm ready to roll.
Of course, it's also fun to see the block "wake up"; kids waiting for the bus, people walking or walking their dogs, folks picking up the AM paper. And the sight of the morning sun through the trees is worth loosing sleep over.
And I'm feeling the benefits too. I notice I don't need as much coffee and I just seem to feel better.
So I hope to keep this up through the summer; eventually working up to an hour a day two days a week.
