  Virtual Village?
It never ceases to amazes me how the internet can allow one to enter the lives of others. Some people wonder how I can basically leave so much of my life as a matter of public record.

So what happens when someone decides to share a tragedy a matter of public knowledge? That's what maybe happened with the Furious Spinner, who shared her friend's struggle with breast cancer. A struggle her friend lost.

I guess I can't imagine putting something like that onto cyberspace. Maybe it's just me, but dying is a private matter to me.

But then why did I send this woman a condolence of sorts, perhaps because at some level, I feel that I've come to know her a bit through her blog.

And perhaps thats one of the joys of the web, that we can come to know people that we wouldn't be able to meet otherwise.

  My New Program
A few weeks ago, I got to visit my Brother, his Wife and my Nephew at my Aunt's house.

On my home I turned on the local NPR station and discovered a program called Weekend America. Think of it as All Things Considered-lite. The focus is more on people than on the news itself; one example was a recent piece on the revival of Students For A Democratic Society. The program also does arts reviews and some odd segments like the "Solomon Squad", an attempt to solve ethical quandries.

The program seems to be done as two, two-hour blocks. Seems that the program is designed to be "background noise", something to keep on while one putters (which is how I've been using it).

For those of you with IPods, etc. The program can also be downloaded, and I highly recommend it. If it's not on your NPR station--ask them to take a look at it:)

  Now What?
OK, in response to what happened with that job in Maryland, I'm gonna pick up a good book on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets to you non-web dev folks).

Of course, I'm gonna need to experiment with what I'm learning, and this creates a paradox. What to do?

I could simply play around on my own computer; maybe make a personal page as a "mock-up". Of course, my "Mock Ups" have a habit of "Getting Loose".

Which brings me to idea two--modify an existing site(Maybe this one).

The third one is to create a page for my poetry, pictures, etc. I could also just link this to my portfolio.

Of course, I have time to think on this little "experiment".

Anyone But Me Find it A Bit Odd That Mars is Named After the God of War?
You Should Rule Mars

Mars is a planet that shines brightly and loops wildly around the solar system.

You are perfect to rule Mars, because you are both energetic and independent.
Like Mars, you seems attractive and bright to others - but you're difficult to pin down.

You are a great thinker, but you only think in the present and ignore the future.
Full of enthusiasm and inspiration, you are into your own thing... and rather insensitive to others.
What Planet Should You Rule?

  Maybe?
You Are a Centaur

In general, you are a very cautious and reserved person.
However, you are also warm hearted, and you enjoy helping others in practical ways.
You are a great teacher, and you are really good at helping people get their lives in order.
You are very intuitive, and you go with your gut. You make good decisions easily.
What Mythological Creature Are You?
