SNOW DAY
Yes, even I get one of these on a rare occasion.
A better term would be an "Oops Day" as the folks at FedEx Ground kinda forgot to keep track of our hours and somehow managed to go through five days worth of hours in only four.
To start with, this was good for me as I seemed to be sick with a head cold--I think. So I got home last night, took a shower, and went to bed!
I managed to finally get up about 8AM and had breakfast. Played and worked on the computer a bit while I waited for the complex to clear me a path; you see, we kinda got 6'' of snow overnight. With this done I went to clear the snow from my car and went back inside to warm up.
Had lunch and headed off to do some of my errands; my banking, getting gas, picking up a homeopathic cold remedy (that seems to be working--how I don't know), and doing my grocery shopping.
Checked my e-mail and crashed on my couch for an hour. Then set off for an evening out (I had figured I'd be off work by 4PM, as opposed to having the whole day off).
I began by taking a shower and shaving. Then headed off to a Lebanese eatery--not bad food at all. Had some sort of baked beef dish, a cheese pie (like a pita filled with cheese) and Decaf coffee.
From there I went to a nearby "Independent" theater and read the first two chapters of
Power Of Myth, and chatted with the owner. It was then I got a surprise; one of my supervisors is a frequent patron, and he's not the kind of person you'd expect to show up at a place like that. So I told the owner to say that "The Hammer" was there (nickname the supervior gave me).
After grabbing a cup of coffee and a brownie. I sat down to watch
Good Night And Good Luck, about Edward R. Murrows battle against Sen. Joe McCarthy and his tactics of fear (that seem familar now). I'd say more, but I think I may have an article for a local "Peace and Justice" paper.
And now I'm home again.
What can I say--when I have an opportunity to run, I take it! Must take after my late Grandma.
