Screen To Screen
Well, just what I don't need--another sign I'm getting OLD!
The
Dukes Of Hazzard movie is the first TV show from the 1980s to be made into a movie. Now I may see this when it comes to the local "2nd Run" theater, but it's the fact that TV shows I was watching are being made into movies that makes me wonder if a few other TV shows may be able to make the jump:
Knight Rider: This was one of those TV shows that embodied the 1980's (and I find amazing how much of KITT's technology became real). In my version a new Michael Knight(Vin Diesel perhaps) and a modern KITT are tackling the newest generation of "Criminals who operate above the law, a terrorist syndicate.
A-Team: Testosterone TV at it's best(or worst). But my version starts with the team escaping from that stockade and their beginnings as soldiers of fortune.
Magnum P.I: OK this one has a partial cast. Patrick Stewart as Higgins, Magnum's employer and "The Rock" as T.C., Magnum's pilot/friend. Now all we is to figure out what to do in Hawaii?
Miami Vice: I gotta give credit to a co-worker for this. Don Johnson reprises his character and either Will Smith or Bill Bellamy(who was in a short-lived "Vice"-esque program called
Fastlane) replaces a dead or retired Philip Michael Thomas in a variation on the "Old Cop/Young Cop" story set to the beat of Miami.
Moonlighting: How about a romantic dramedy? This tale of mismatched detectives would likely be a good draw just as a "chick flick".
